Kurzemes Granulas Ltd. is wood pellet producer in Latvia. The Company is located in the area of the Ventspils Free Port (http://www.portofventspils.lv/).
The factory has operated since 2005 and currently manufactures about 70'000 tons of pellets a year. The main output consists of ~ 50’000 t Premium grade pellets ( ENplus®A1, DINplus certified) and ~20’000 t high quality industrial pellets. The pellets are produced only from domestic raw materials: sawdust and shavings from a local sawmill. No chemical additives are used. Currently Kurzemes Granulas Ltd. manufactures only 6 mm pellets.
Industrial pellets are mostly delivered in bulk by vessels to Western European and Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Belgium, Sweden, UK, Netherlands, Germany etc.) for heat and power generation at CHPs and boiler houses. Premium pellets are delivered to customers in bulk by vessels and packed in small bags for residential and small enterprise use in Italy, UK, Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark etc.
HS Timber Group completes acquisition of Kurekss SIA, and its subsidiary Kurzemes Granulas SIA.
With the approval of the Latvian competition authority, HS Timber Group has successfully completed the acquisition of Kurekss SIA, a leading Latvian wood processing company, and its subsidiary Kurzemes Granulas SIA.

With the closing, HS Timber Group takes another important step in expanding its presence in the Baltic region, strengthening its portfolio of sustainably operated sawmills and renewable wood processing facilities.
The Kurekss and Kurzemes Granulas brands will remain unchanged, and the existing management team will continue to lead operations. Both companies will now work closely with HS Timber Group to explore synergies to further develop their market potential.
